China-Africa Trade Surges in Q1 2026

2026-04-23

According to data, in the first quarter of 2026, China-Africa trade continued its high-growth momentum, with the total bilateral import and export volume reaching CNY 646.56 billion, marking a year-on-year increase of 23.7%. This growth rate significantly outpaced China’s overall foreign trade growth during the same period.

The scale of China-Africa trade has surged from less than CNY 100 billion in 2000 to CNY 2.49 trillion in 2025, which has maintained rapid growth over the long term. This indicates that Africa is gradually transforming from a traditional marginal market into a vital growth pole within China’s foreign trade system.
