China-Africa trade has continued its strong growth in 2026, creating new opportunities for businesses, manufacturers, and investors on both sides. Supported by closer economic cooperation, favorable trade policies, and expanding market demand, the partnership is entering a new stage of development.
One of the biggest milestones this year is China’s implementation of zero-tariff treatment for imports from 53 African countries with diplomatic relations. The policy is expected to increase African exports, improve market access, and encourage greater trade diversification across agriculture, manufacturing, and value-added products.
Trade performance has remained impressive. In the first quarter of 2026, China-Africa trade reached RMB 646.56 billion, a year-on-year increase of 23.7%. Chinese exports of machinery, industrial equipment, intermediate goods, and consumer products continued to grow, while imports of African agricultural products and natural resources also expanded steadily.
Financial cooperation is also becoming stronger. The expansion of RMB settlement services across Africa is making cross-border transactions more efficient and reducing trade costs, providing additional support for growing commercial activities between Chinese and African businesses.
Looking ahead, sectors such as industrial machinery, automotive parts, renewable energy, construction materials, and manufacturing equipment are expected to benefit from the deepening economic relationship. As China and Africa continue to strengthen trade and investment cooperation, 2026 presents significant opportunities for companies seeking long-term growth in African markets.
